Pillars of Imam

What are the The 7 Articles of Faith that one has to profess belief in?

The seven articles of faith, also known as the “Pillars of Iman,” are the fundamental beliefs that Muslims are required to profess and hold as a part of their faith. These articles encompass the core principles of Islamic belief. They are as follows:

  1. Belief in Allah (God): Muslims believe in the oneness and unity of Allah. They affirm that Allah is the one true God, who is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and the Creator of the universe.
  2. Belief in the Angels: Muslims believe in the existence of angels, who are created by Allah and are unseen beings made of light. Angels play various roles, including carrying out Allah’s commands, recording human deeds, and serving as messengers to the prophets.
  3. Belief in the Books of Allah: Muslims believe in the divine books revealed by Allah to His messengers as guidance for humanity. These books include the Quran, which is considered the final and most comprehensive revelation, as well as previous scriptures such as the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospel.
  4. Belief in the Prophets: Muslims believe in the prophets and messengers sent by Allah to guide humanity. This includes well-known prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and the final prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them). Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last and final messenger.
  5. Belief in the Day of Judgment: Muslims believe in the Day of Judgment, a day of resurrection and accountability, when all individuals will be raised from the dead and held accountable for their beliefs and actions in the worldly life. It is a day of reckoning and reward or punishment based on one’s deeds.
  6. Belief in Divine Decree (Predestination): Muslims believe in the concept of divine decree, known as Qadar, which encompasses Allah’s knowledge and control over all things. Muslims believe that everything happens by the will and decree of Allah, including both the good and the bad, and that humans have free will within the framework of divine destiny.
  7. Belief in Life After Death: Muslims believe in the existence of an eternal life after death. This includes the concepts of Paradise (Jannah) and Hellfire (Jahannam), where individuals will be rewarded or punished based on their faith and deeds in the earthly life.

These seven articles of faith represent the foundational beliefs in Islam and provide Muslims with a comprehensive framework for understanding the nature of Allah, the universe, human existence, and the purpose of life.
